Fulton 2024 Comparison

To get a sense of how unusual the voting patterns were in Detroit, it's helpful to compare them to another jurisdiction with similar demographics. I have chosen Fulton County, Georgia for this comparison. Fulton County includes most of the city of Atlanta, and has a similar population size and racial composition to Detroit. The number of contests on the ballot was lower than in Detroit, but should provide a decent enough comparison for write-in activity.

In the 2024 Presidential Election, I found only 175 absentee ballots with a write-in signature. And a majority of them included a write-in candidate. Only 21 out of the 175 absentee ballots had a write-in oval filled in with no name written. Out of a total of 25,305 absentee ballots, that would only give us a 0.082% ghost write-in percentage.
